2010 Academy Awards

Kathryn Bigelow made history at the 2010 Academy Awards tonight being the first woman to receive the Best Director Oscar for her 2009 debut film, 'The Hurt Locker'.
Um, it’s about fucking time. I mean 82 years and this is the first time a woman has won this category?
The honor was definitely well deserved and not just because it came from a woman’s perspective, but it was just truly authentic depiction of what the act of war entails. The independent film also received the Best Motion Picture award and I unapologetically am relieved 'Inglorious Basterds' did not win. Seriously, that show sucked Nazi ballsacks. Hey, it’s my blog, my site, and I can talk shit about any film I think sucked ass. You know…like 'Inglorious Basterds'—because it sucked ass. To the film’s credit, it did win Christoph Waltz best supporting actor and I’d have to agree he did pretty good portraying a sadistic evil Nazi prick.
One of the best acceptance speeches I’ve seen in all the years watching the Oscars came from Sandra Bullock after receiving her first Academy Award for her leading performance in 'The Blind Side'.

Cheers, Sandra because you rock. Here's the only video I found (so far) that shows the her speech in it's entirety. It's shitty quality, but it's early and not too many decent copies are circulating at the moment (that you can embed) For a better quality video and more acceptance speeches from the Oscar winners go to http://oscar.go.com/.

Semi-off-topic: Who does Meryl Streep have to blow to win a goddamn Oscar? Jesus, she does five movies a year in hopes of finally being recognized by the Academy fucks and still she loses every time. She’s an amazing actress and it blows my mind she’s been overlooked so many times to less deserving performance. (Excluding Sandra’s, of course) I must say, 'Julie and Julia' was one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time and deserved more attention than it got.
Jeff Bridges brought home the Oscar for his performance in the independent film, 'Crazy Heart'. I’m somewhat disappointed Maggie Gyllenhaal wasn’t all liquored up like she was at this years Spirit Awards. For those who didn’t catch the Spirit Awards—Maggie attended wearing an ‘I’m-drunk-and-oh- my-god-my-tit-just-fell-out-again’ dress. Every time she applauded I’m pretty sure I saw some nip. In her defense, most at the Spirit Awards were pretty toasted by the end. It was open bar and on cable so it was more relaxed than most award ceremonies. No commercial breaks and people could express their appreciation in their acceptance speeches with lots of slurred profanity. I loved it.

Best Supporting Actress, went to Mo'Nique, for her amazing performance in 'Precious'. It showed her diversity and courage to approach such an unlikable role and it’s commended. I must say I was a little thrown back during her interview with Barbra Walters and the whole, I-don’t-shave-my-legs thing. Girl wears a fucking dress and sports man hair on her legs. That takes balls. Cheers Mo’Nique for showing your hairy legs to millions of ABC viewers. So as in her own words, “It ain’t that heavy so let it go baby…” Thumbs up 'Precious'.

Before I drop this blog, Ben Stiller pulled off one of his notorious Oscar satires tonight. Dude’s funny as shit.

I really thought that Meryl Strip will win Best Actress. But I love Sandra, she did a great job on The Blind Side. Congrats to her.
